About Sgt Calderon
Sergeant Juan Calderon Jr. made the ultimate sacrifice while serving as a member of 3d Battalion 1st Marine Regiment, on August 2, 2004, conducting Security and Stability operations in the Al Anbar province of Iraq.
Juan was a proud native of Weslaco, TX who enlisted in the Marines upon graduating from high school in 1997 and had served for seven years at the time of his death. He was known to his Marines as “Bam-Bam” and was a fierce athlete who played many sports. Calderon was survived by his wife Ana who was expecting the birth of their first child a month after his death, and by his brother, three sisters, and his parents.
“Juan was a good brother and a good son.” Said Linda Calderon, Juan’s sister. “He was a good husband and I know he would have been a good father. We love him and he will be missed. We know that he is with God.”
