June 9, 2018, was a historic event for the Rio Grande Valley. The first detachment of the Marine Corps League was officially presented their Charter from the Marine Corps League National Headquarters. Department of Texas Commandant Robert Way was on hand to present the document as well as install the detachment’s first officers.
The officers, elected by the Rio Grande Valley Detachment #1456, are:
- Commandant – Sean Downey
- Senior Vice Commandant – Tim Lynch
- Junior Vice Commandant – Bryan Heiskell
- Judge Advocate – David Zipp
- Trustee – Eddie Sanchez
- Trustee – Christine Ramos
- Trustee – James Coan (also appointed as Sergeant-At-Arms)
Appointed officers of the detachment are:
- Adjutant – Jorge Vallejo
- Paymaster – Tony Hernandez
- Chaplain – Bill Roach
